I'm a lifetime fan of The Witcher books. I was very excited when I found out that Netflix is making a TV show based on them, and I decided to create a title sequence for it.

The Witcher is a fantasy series of short stories and novels about a monster hunter named Geralt. Geralt had to become a mutant in order to get supernatural abilities to fight against monsters to protect people, who sometimes are more wicked than the monsters.
I wanted to explore this idea in my title sequence, and also focus on the mystical side of The Witcher by showing the horrific and often deadly process of mutation.

The challenge was to make this title sequence look different from The Witcher game, because CD Projekt Red established very strong visual style for it.
The game itself has a very realistic depiction of Geralt, monsters, and the world itself. In my title sequence, I wanted to bring the story back to the folklore origin by using silhouettes, darker color palette, atmospheric foggy environment and celtic wolf image for Geralt’s medallion. It feels more like a story about a supernatural monster hunter being told at a campfire.

I had so much fun with this project from a concept to a final render. It was a great opportunity to start using Octane, X particles and Forester plugins for Cinema 4D.

I can’t wait to see Netflix version of The Witcher this year!
